Happy Thanksgiving!

Today, I have been reflecting on the many blessings in my life. As difficult and uncertain as these times may seem, I have so much to be thankful for. Unfortunately, it seems we don't have to look far to find others who are in circumstances much worse.

I recently had the opportunity to co-chair Muskegon Project Homeless Connect. It was an event that provided a one-stop shop of health and human services for those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. On a cold day, more than 200 families lined up for hours just so they could put food on the table for their family for one more week. More than 10,000 pounds of food was distributed that day.

I'm proud to say I was part of a group of volunteers who made a difference in many lives that day - but it's not enough. I encourage you to donate to a local food pantry and if you can't donate food or money, donating your time is just as valuable. Please do what you can to make a difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate.

Thank you for your business, your support and your kind words about our services. I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Don't Miss Our Special "Family Portrait Month"

This October, Eidetic Imaging will participate with an elite group of photographers around the country in a very special family portrait promotion. Throughout October we will celebrate "Family Portrait Month," a wonderful opportunity for you to update your family portrait and help support Operation Smile, which treats children around the world who suffer with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.

Along with other studio members of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), we have pledged to contribute to PPA Charities, which has chosen Operation Smile as its charitable partner.

What's more, we want you to benefit from this special offer. During the month of October, proceeds from two special family sessions will be donated to Operation Smile.

Operation Smile Session A - $99
  • 30 minute family session at a beautiful outdoor location
  • 24 Holiday Cards, custom-designed by Eidetic Imaging
  • 8 wallets
Operation Smile Session B - $49
  • 30 minute family session at a beautiful outdoor location
  • 8x10 portrait

Recording the faces of children and their families is our greatest pleasure. That's why we believe so strongly in the work of Operation Smile. Each year this incredible organization of more than 6,000 volunteer doctors, nurses, dentist, and specialized health-care professionals perform free reconstructive surgeries for children suffering with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities. More than 100,000 children are born with a facial deformity each year in Operation Smile's 26 partner countries.

We also believe that Family Portrait Month is a wonderful way to teach children the value of reaching out to others. Even small children can understand the importance of Operation Smile's work, and they are eager to help these needy children.

We hope you will join with us in helping to make this vital work possible. Don't forget that the holiday season is right around the corner, so there's no better time for a family portrait, which are always appreciated as gifts for family and friends and to send along with holiday greeting cards.

As always...we look forward to creating some truly wonderful portraits of your family.

Sarah & Bill - 08.30.2008

We met Sarah and Bill almost a year ago, while photographing the Nedeau family at Bronson Park. This wedding was amazing - the attention to detail made for a stunning and elegant day. Sarah and Bill were great to work with - incredibly genuine and relaxed. Friends and family shared their incredible day at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spring Lake and later at the Muskegon Country Club. Thank you both for allowing us to photograph your incredible day and best wishes for a wonderful life together.

Goodbye Frank

And your song will play on without you
And this world won't forget about you
Every part of you was in your song
Now we will carry on... Never Without you
Within you without you

Amber & Derek

I have been looking forward to Amber & Derek's wedding - they are an incredible couple - plus I love to come home to Ludington. Amber & Derek were married at St. John's Lutheran, a church that has wonderful members and a lovely sanctuary. With a little extra time set aside for photos, we traveled out to the beach house at Ludington State Park. After a quick session at the beach, we headed back to the Ramada Inn for a spectacular reception. Thank you Amber & Derek for choosing us to photograph your day!

Jennifer & Rick

Congratulations to Jennifer and Rick! We had a great time at the wedding and reception. I can't remember the last time I was at a reception and the father of the groom serenaded the couple via accordion. As you can imagine, Jen and Rick's family and friends were wonderful, supportive and fun-loving.

Best 4th evah!

Just back from a sun-drenched weekend at Rothbury. It's been so long since I've had a true weekend off - it was spectacular. See Chris's 3 word reviews at www.qonverge.com/blog

I wanted to share a few pics and comments from the weekend.

Holly - 4
Sun - 0

Don't get me wrong-every day at Rothbury was sunny and gorgeous, but I was one of the few near-albinos that kept their skin lily-white with no burns. I'm sure about 90% went home with sunburn souvenirs.

Celebrity sightings:

Day 1 - 0

Day 2 - 3

This is probably the most exciting to me - not only did we sit with Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls - ps - fantastic cover of Warpig) and Jason Webly (Evelyn Evelyn) at the Establishment, but I actually met Joe Sumner (Fiction Plane and fyi Sting's son) Sometimes, I'm so scene it hurts...

Day 3 - 1

Met Scott the Blue Bunny and nearly Amanda Palmer again (but the sun was hot - we left instead)

Day 4 - 2

Within a foot of guy from Widespread Panic and someone else I didn't quite recognize from the festival.

Best food of the festival - Curry

Weirdly Fantastic Show I saw - Of Montreal - small people kabuki theatre - I don't know...

Festival Highlights to me - Rodrigo y Gabriela - I'll just say flamenco meets thrash metal guitar. Unbelievable. Also, everything at the Establishment. And Primus - did not think I would ever see them live.

Overall - we had a fabulous time. I can't say that I've ever been among 40,000 new friends before. I think I'll be back to Rothbury next year.
