The Ride 2009

Last weekend, Chris and I photographed The Ride 2009, held at The Lakes Mall. It is a crazy fun event with lots of great energy from all the teams. We look forward to photographing the event each year and wanted to show you a few of our favorites.

The Ride is a unique stationary bike race designed to increase the awareness of cardiovascular fitness through exercise and healthy lifestyle choices. Teams of eight cyclists ride bikes mounted on trainers for 25-minute intervals and compete for team trophies and individual medals.

Hearts were pounding and legs were peddling this year, as fifty one teams (408 cyclists) rode over 4,000 miles at the 2009 The Ride. Since 2005, The Ride has raised more than $200,000 for cardiovascular health services.

Sandy Corley 2009

Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph the auction bike for the 2009 Sandy Corley Memorial. The photos will be used for the promo materials for the upcoming event. It was the first trip I have made to Sandy's Harley Davidson Center and I can't tell you how impressed I was the by the staff and the store. Rick was so helpful - he didn't even laugh when I asked him to point out the important parts of the bike (shows how much I don't know about Harleys...)

This bike will be raffled off during the 2009 Sandy Corley Memorial event this summer. All proceeds go towards cancer treatment in our community - certainly a great cause.

2009 Bridal Portrait Display

Recently, I launched a new bridal portrait display at Magical Moments, here in Muskegon. The display will feature Eidetic Imaging brides in dresses by Magical Moments, as well as model shoots featuring the best locations of West Michigan.

This image is the first to go on display. Mandy had a beautiful winter wedding here in Muskegon. Not only was the dress stunning, but Mandy was absolutely gorgeous.

Eidetic Imaging still has a limited number 2009 dates available for your wedding. Be sure to give us a call to check availability and set up a complimentary wedding photography consultation.

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

After months of interviews and amazing contributions by many photographers and families, Newsweek has now published online the article focusing on stillbirth and NILMDTS. It hits newsstands on Monday (2/2/09).

The Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep foundation works through professional photographer to provide these families with photographs of the baby. These services are donated to the family.

We have been a member of Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (NILMDTS) for over a year now, providing services at all Mercy Health Partners campuses and North Ottawa Community Hospital. It is my hope that the sessions I have participated in provided some measure of comfort to the families that have suffered such a profound loss.

For more on the work of Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, visit the foundation’s Web site, www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org.

No ghosts, but beautiful architecture

Recently, we worked with Qonverge and the Frauenthal Center for Performing Arts to help update the Frauenthal website. We spent an afternoon photographing some of its amazing architecture. Our ambassador to the facility - Linda - has a wealth of knowledge about the theatre, which, of course, has quite an amazing past. Many of the features have been painstakingly restored to historical accuracy, which we were able to capture. Of course, in a facility with so much history, there is ghost lore, but no ghosts were captured in the resulting images. Maybe next time...

If you can correctly guess the location the above photos were taken from, you win an 8x10 of your choice from this photo series.

The Frauenthal has some great options for special events, weddings and receptions. Be sure to consider this Muskegon landmark when planning your wedding.

Don't forget, the Alley Door Club offers great live entertainment. Next date is Feb 13, featuring Organissimo (one of my favorites from GR).

My first photo shoot

well - it was actually Baby Stella's first photo shoot. I met up with Stella in late November, when she was about 8 weeks old. I don't think the cat much cared for Stella.
